Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
Whisk salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, flour, and baking soda together in a medium bowl; set aside.
Beat butter and brown sugar together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add molasses and eggs; mix until blended.
Stir the dry ingredients into the molasses mixture until just combined. Gradually stir in the hot coffee until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.

Cook’s Note
